My original question was regarding my notchback which didn't have a lighter. I bought one new at a swapmeet and want to put it in. I think you're right in saying it was a dealer installed option only, question was where did they install it. From the input from the group I guess that was largely determined by the mood the dealer was in at the time. I mentioned my type 34 as that did come with a lighter from the factory as standard. I thought that might imply that other type 3's (like the notch), also had that option from the factory. By now I think I figured out it didn't (the notch that is). Still I'm wandering why the lighter has a VW stamp on it. Than again, it could have been intended to go in a '67 type 34 or other VW that had a lighter either as standard or factory option. I'm going to check out all the cars in Aalsmeer and see if there is any consensus regarding the location of a lighter. Cheers, Theo
