Hmm, if I remember correctly I just grabbed my mirror while facing forward 
and carefully pulled it towards the back of the car.  It just snaps in/out.

Volks,

I now have my '72 Squareback almost completely stripped.   No doors windows
, bonnet (hood), rear door, headliner, dash, haedliner etc.

I have two small problems;

1) How do I get the rear vision mirror off
2) Hoe do I get the knobs off the dash switches.
