Gang, I've been reading with great interest the varied types and places of the Type III fellowship. Glad to hear it is alive and kicking. And just think this is only the people that we know about. For the "200 and growing" there could possibly be another Million worldwide who aren't on the net. Well, I'd better introduce myself. My Name is Wayne Collins. In 1972 I came into this world. My father owned a 1965 Squareback at the time and then a 1972 Notchback (we think). I guess my attraction started with those cars. After graduating from High School in 1989, I went to University in my home town Gladstone, Queensland, Oz (550km North of Brisbane). In the second year of Uni, I had to move to (Rockhampton 100km North of Gladstone)and during the course of the year, we bought a 1972 Notchback (Chip) identical to the one Dad owned. (Still trying to prove whether it is or isn't the same car.) Chip was the only one at Uni and have had some really good times in that car. In 1994 after University finished, (Graduated from two Degrees, Bachelor of Business Major: Accounting, Minor: Information Systems, and Graduate Diploma of Management Major: Information Systems) I moved to Sydney, New South Wales, Oz to take a job with a bank as a Business Analyst. As the Notch wasn't in the best of condition, I parked it in Dad's shed and left for the big smoke fully intending to put him back on the road in original condition. My Daily Driver is a small four door sedan called a Mitsubishi Sigma (Emma). Great little car. (And easy to work on. Of course she's not a VW but the next best thing!!) Once in Sydney I attended a few VW shows and my interest just seemed to get bigger and bigger. So much so that I did something I really shouldn't have, I bought another car. This time a 1973 Squareback (Joanne). Drove her home and she is sitting in a carport full of parts at the moment until I can get her somewhere to really get stuck into her. Although she had a bad engine, half the master brake cylinder working and some rust, I got her back to looking a little more like she should. I've managed to fix the engine and brakes, but thanks to lots of really unhelpful panel beaters, the rust is the only thing stopping her from getting on the road before I start the real customisation. Now as she is full of parts, literally, I can't get into her anyway. I'm having problems house hunting, fixing my "wagons", and computer hunting as funds are tight but hopefully it will all work out. There is just me and my cars, no girlfriend/fiance/wife/kids/etc although, nearly everyone I talk to wants to know why or knows a friend/relative who can change it. AAARRRRGGGGHHH!!! But me and my cars are doing alright. At the end of this year, I might have a place to store my cars and work on them without any problems. But it will mean getting through tax time unscathed. That pretty much summarises it. You can all wake up again now. Regards, Wayne's World 1997 '72 Notch '73 Square '83 Sigma
