I'll intro myself so I won't be classified as an anon. lurker. My name is Stephen Weiford, 36, drive a '71 sqrbk. I have a wife- Roslea, no kids, one huskey that loves to ride in the VW. We live in NC and are slooooowly restoring a '71 type II westy(so we're on that list also). I'm the second owner of the sqrbk(purchased in '84) which runs a 1776 with twin solexs which I built myself with all new parts(bragbragbrag). Normally I drive the VW 50 miles a day to and from work so it's very-very-very dependable. Ive always owned at least one VW over a twenty years span, and the first car I restored for the wife was a VW, so I got her hooked on them. Pedrsonally I feel that the type III is a better designed car than a beelte. But the wiffy wants a convertible so thats next on the list. Glad to be part of the "200 and growing". (didn't think there were that many left!)
