Hi there. My name is Christine (30) and my husband is Ken (40). We live just outside Yosemite National Park in California. We are long-time VW fans, but are just recently getting more into them on a larger scale. We currently own a 71 Squareback, which we bought six months ago for $750. We have all the original paperwork, as the person we bought it from had bought it from the original owner only a few months earlier. The body is straight (no wrecks), and it runs great. We hope to do a full restoration at some point, but for now I am using it to do a 55 mile, 5000 foot elevation gain, round trip to work each day. Handles the mountain roads very nicely. We also own a 79 and a 76 Westfalia. Ken has owned a 63 Bug, 68 Fastback and a 71 SQ with auto. For getting the whole family around, (in less style), we also own a 88 Subaru wagon. (The VWs get the car port and the Subie stays out in the weather.) I am a maintenance worker for the Park Service, and Ken is a house-dad, and fiddles with the cars. We have a 12 year old daughter (from Ken's first marriage) and a 3 1/2 year old son. Our daughter thinks VW's are ugly, but she enjoys the travel options we get with the camper. Our son likes VW's and has learned the different kinds from going to VW events with us. He likes to play "slug-bug," and has several toy bugs. We really want a Notchback, so if any of you have a line on one, let us know. We have a possibility of one in Washington State, but that's a long ways away. We are also interested in a 69 or older Fastback. Happy to be in touch with other T-III lovers, Christine and Ken Davies (71 Squareback) (76 Westi) (79 Westi)
