Amanda, I think you are better off not buying a rust bucket in the first place. The mechanical stuff is easy but it is hard finding/repairing body parts. As far as price $2k was waaaaay too much. I have a 69 fastback with no rust but all 4 fenders have dents. Super clean interior. Good glass. Auto with extra trans and extra engine that needs a head. Lotsa extra's including center line replica's that I am asking $1000 for. He has decided to put it up for sale in the paper until he gets the full 2 grand. Amanda, it seems that you were the real winner in this deal. Let him keep the car for (?) long and then go offer him $200 for it! ( I got my fastback that way for that price, but it took over a year to do it.) Your $700 will buy a much better vehicle than this one if you are patient. The car you were looking at would cost a small fortune to restore. I think his deal stinks (just my "two scents" worth). Now that I think more about it, my advice is to go back to him in about a year and offer to haul it away if he will pay you $100! Best to you in your search for a nice car.... Phil dillard@suu.edu
