Re: Rubber/paint etc.

Here is some help from a fellow Washingtonian (Bellingham),

1) That's what I hear everyone is paying for door seals nowadays (also
check West Coast Metric). That's about what I paid.
2) If you want to stay stock, it's worth the cash to go to new tires.
See a Michelin dealer for 165SR15 tires. They're about $60 each. Be
wary about junkyards. You may find the real reason they're called
"junk"yards.
3&4) What is minor? Dings and stuff, or actual hits? I stripped out my
car, windows, chrome and everything, the body was staright except for
dings, and when all said and done the paint job looked factory (real damn
nice!). Still, it cost 2 grand. Before you freak, remember that a
Sikkens catalyzed primered, enamel paint job will last a loooong time
properly maintained. Hell the factory coat on my car lasted beautifully
for 20 years. Don't scrimp when it comes to paint. It'll be worth it in
the long run.
5) Is it worth the gas to go to Mexico from Seattle, to get your car
painted by someone unrefferred, that you do not know, will never see
again, probably can't communicate well with just to save what'll end up
being about $800-$1000. I just can't recommend it.
6) Yes, if we're talking abouth the same thing. Parts Is Parts in Utah
has them new for 379.95. You'll find their ads in VW mags.

Good luck on your new project, I know it will be
