Hey Ron, you're a man after my own heart! I just did what you're talking
about in one fell swoop. I will warn you, this project (71 resto-cal
fastback) was not cheap or easy. I have spent 17 grand alone on this
project to date. Paint was $2000 (no rust) after I did all of the strip
down work
myself. I also ordered a Berg 5 and a Berg 78mmx88MM motor with traction
bar, shifter and all of the appropriate goodies. A warning on your
motor choice: Tim at Berg told me not
to go any bigger that an 78mmx88mm (1897cc) motor if it was to be driven
regularly
because geat dissipatipn problems on a motor any bigger might result in
reliability problems. This powertrain on top of wheels, rear discs,
tires, vintage roofrack, new interior, and every other odd and end you
can think of got expensive quick, but it has been worth it. I'll tell
you right now do it all at once! My project with bottomles checkbook in
hand has taken over 4 months and is still 4 weeks from completion. It
has been torture! Get it done and have fun. You won't regret it!
