Howdy Volks, here's a mini-report on the Type III action at the Milan, Michigan Bug-out that went down yesterday. In short: where were the T3s??? I counted a grand total of three, including mine. The first one I spotted was a '65 Notch for sale... definitely a "custom" job. Funky greenish paint, carpet fiberglass dash, and a big Holley carb dominating the trunk. Yours for a mere $8k. Ugh! More power to 'em if they get half that... (IMHO!) I also got to chat briefly with Gary Z. as he pulled up his screamin' '73 squareback for another pass down the dragway. I shot some pix of his ride & hope to get them scanned to add to the shot I've got up on the T3 pages already. Cool car! I picked up a used 6 Volt 1966 Type III gas guage. Haven't tested it yet. If anybody needs it, drop me a line & we'll make a deal! Also passed up an earlish 12V gauge set for $10, and a pair of late fenders for $10. Perhaps a mistake... Oh--and Jonce scored a bag full of NOS T3 ball joints! Cool! If it wasn't so blasted hot & humid, I would have entered my square in the show as the only T3 competitor for a guaranteed plaque... but Em (my almost-three-year-old) & I were too beat from the heat. For you bus listees, I also had the pleasure of meeting Charlie Ford at Jonce's place Saturday evening and again at the Bug-out. (For the rest of you... Charlie headed west from Georgia in his '79 bus in January, and zig-zagged to So. Calif., then up to B.C., and is now in the Detroit area on his way to Nova Scotia before heading back to Georgia. Hurrah!) Great guy! Well, hope to have more T3s @ Milan next year (you listening, Dan & Jonce? I just may have to register & take first place next year if you don't show up w/ T3s...!).
