Re: Let's talk speaker placement...

I have a detachable face Sony cassette/receiver with CD/MD changer
functions and a remote squatting in my center console. There's a hole
below the window cranks and that's where I put my 4" Sony's -- just gotta
be careful and not cheese grate yer knuckles on the speaker grills when
rolling down the windows! In back I have two 6"x9", each in their own
little bass-ported box. I use the seat belts to keep them from wandering
around the back seat and floor. The speakers are connected on long speaker
wire so I can move them about, like to the very rear of my babe or up on
the roof.

I used bullet connectors to connect the speaker to the main speaker wire so
it's very easy to disconnect the speakers and move them outta the way. I
would recommend using a stereo headphone jack/plug as it would make it
really easy to connect/disconnect the speakers. If you do use crimp-on
wire connectors (like the bullet ones I'm using) it's best to use a male
connector on the positive lead coming from the stereo and a female
connector on the negative lead coming from the stereo. This way you can
connect the speaker to the stereo only one way, thus it will keep the
speakers in phase.

P.S. If anyone is interested, my car stereo is for sale and it's in excellent
condition. I want to upgrade to a CD system. Write me for details.

Just got my '72 SqrBk out of the body shop... new paint (Ultra Violet,
fantastic color!), new interior, seals etc. and now i'm pondering the
stereo system.

I will install an amp in the front trunk and wire jacks for my portable cd
player (major theft deterent, aye?) but the speakers and placement have me
stumped. I could go with a removable box w/6"X9"s in the rear, but i'm not
really happy with that option (takes up too much space and a pain for when
I go camping). Maybe some 5"s in the front door panels and something"s in
the rear side panels(?). I'm mainly concerned with sound quality and theft
deterence, retaining stockness of vehicle and cost are not so important.

Curious to hear what others have done in this arena. Thanks in advance.
