Yo beautiful people and Keith!
Well all this fuss about gauges is exciting isn't it? The red
needle trippers are a little uncommon to say the least however, and you
were waiting for the however were'nt you, I bought a NOS red needle
speedometer a year or so ago for about $100, not bad eh? Well I was
quite pleased as I also bought a matching fuel/warning gauge and clock
with red needles for the T3 PV (all NOS of course). Well a week or so
later a friend that owns a VW shop in Adelaide rang me to ask if I
wanted a red needle speedo for my T3's. I said, No not realy I already
have one so make someone else happy. And that was what I thought the end
of it. A week or so after that I dropped into the VW shop for a coffee
and bullshit session like I am well known for and he says check out the
speedo. Okay I said. And you know what, it was a NOS red needle trip
speedo, 100MPH and I said you didn't mention that it was a tripper. He
said- you didn't ask! Suffice to say I now own a NOS red needle trip
speedo as well. For further information: I also have a white needle trip
speedo with a grey knob and a white needle trip speedo with a chrome
knob. All are grey faced! While in Germany I saw a lot of trip speedo's
for type 3's so try there if you get stuck. Also most of them are KM
rather than miles which is cool too. I picked up a regular 160kmh white
needle speedo for the equivalent of $10US and it was NOS! Keep your eyes
peeled and you will find what you want. Now if I can only find a 6V
white needle grey face tach for $5......
