Do it yourself! I think the instruments themselves will need to be
changed, not just their lights.
JC Whitney has a little thingamabob that you can attach to your instruments
to lower the 12v to 6v, thus allowing you to keep your 6v gauges while
running your electrical system at 12v.

I'm thinking about doing it. Want to "really and truly"
know what's involved.
I'm thinking about things like the chokes and cutoffs
for my 32PDSIT's, a generator, maybe just a starter
solenoid because I hear that's an option (?) and that
the flywheel problem is a dandy if you want a 12v starter...
and all the instrument lights, and the flashing box (blue)
voltage regulator, coil, uh, what else?
Oh, I do have a working 6v selfwinding clock, which is one
reason I have considered not doing this, believe it or not.
But I am tired of dim lights (dangerous). I'd also like to
install a tape deck in this sweet wagen.
BTW, I do not think it's realistic to worry about lowering
the "value" by converting to 12v, so please don't worry about
that for me :-)
Is there a resouce on the WWW, or a well-known book, that will help me
do this? Would it be wise to have an auto-electrical shop do this
work?
