Re: your alternator conversion

I took off the cover so the inside can be viewed -- it fits with no
problems whatsoever. No grinding or cutting was done to anything. The
alternator comes with a pulley. It's too small (ratio to crank pulley is
above 3:1) but works. The stock hold down strap was used, just molded
around the alternator. I did have to use a longer stud on the left side so
I could retain the stock strap. The belt is smaller than stock and not
tight enough. Unfortunately I haven't had time to find a way to make this
setup adjustable so the belt can be thrown above 5000rpm (and even shredded
into several pieces...).

Like I said, I'll provide free details when I have the time.

Toby,

I've seen the info that you've posted about your alt. conversion. I'm very
interested. Any help that you could provide me with would be greatly
appreciated. Did you have to grind the fan shroud at all ? did the stock
pulley fit or did you have to have a "custom" one made. Did the stock hold
down strap work ? I notice that you don't have the cover on that goes over
the alt/ gen pulley.

Thanks, Dan
