Greetings type 3 humans....
I must send this message quickly before my caretaker finds out...
I'm a 1969 squareback automatic with dual carbs from one of my deceased
ancestors. When initially put into DRIVE I function properly (I move
forward). Reverse always works fine. My problem occurs when engaged into
DRIVE a second time after backing up for instance. Transmission does not
engage to move me forward. No forward selection has any effect. Reverse
still works, but you can back up just so far before you're trapped
somewhere. If you shut down my engine and wait a bit, restart, reverse,
then DRIVE 1,2,or3 things are usally OK..just don't take me out of
forward gear again or things repeat themselves. Needless to say this
idiosyncrasy makes my caretaker kinda stressed out when trying to
parallel park in the city. I have exhibited this behavior sporadically
for the past two years...please help me. He keeps dropping hints about
how his '66 manual transmission square never pulled any funny business
like this.
This is my most annoying trait at the moment. I'm sure he will write to
tell you more.
thanx.
a scared 69 AUTOMATIC (sigh)
