I'm a little surprised that these are available at all. I thought they were all gone years ago. It is definitely worthwhile to preserve your old ones. The best start is to never use them as arm rests. Super glue actually does a very good job of glueing rubber, but make sure you don't glue the rubber to the glass! While you're at it, clean out the drain holes at the bottom of the door. No window seals are perfect, and all car door that I know of have drains to let the water that gets in get back out. These drains eventually clog up and accelerate the rusting of the doors. Fortunatley, door rusting is not a problem in type IIIs.
