Car seem to vary, but I think they all ran ~okay without the throttle valve switch when new. Okay means don't expect to floor the throttle quickly. It is possible that there were bad years or batches of pressure sensors, so that all the ones you tried were also bad. FWIW, the one I have with the problem is also a 72.
