So far everything I've *heard* about hydraulics has been met with
negativity. It seems that the air cooleds that weren't designed with
hydraulics just don't last when they got 'em. I do know that hydraulics
require a different cam i.e. they don't work very well with a stock cam.
So...the FI may not work as well as it could. I'll let those with a
greater knowledge of FI and cams explain it, but in my opinion, if the FI
hasn't been tuned to the cam, don't do it.

Subject: FI and hydraulic lifters

Sometime soon I will be bringing home my "new" '69 Fastback. It has
fuel injection which, to the joy of some of you and the surprise to me,
I am retaining.
I am going to replace the short block (case) with a good one that I
have...which happens to be stock except for having hydraulic valve
lifters.
Will that work? In other words, will the FI system be compatible with
a case that has hydraulic lifters? Does anyone anticipate any problems
with this combination?
I haven't had (or, more accurately, retained) FI in any of my vehicles for
years, so my ignorance of FI is exceeded only by my ineptitude as a
mechanic.
All (free) advice will be appreciated.
Best..
