Headlights have actually been improved quite a bit since our cars were
built, but most of those improvements have been incorporated in the new
bulbs you can buy at K-Mart. The "new" $10 halogens are a good step up from
the std sealed beams, but many of the higher priced bulbs just offer snob
appeal, or a light intensity that is inconsiderate of other drivers.
The real problem here is probably that most of us live in places where we
can't really use the high beams that often. If you are one of the
exceptions, then fancy lights may actually offer you some real benefits.
I go for the $10 halogens.
