A couple of fuel injection questions:
1) Up by the electric fuel pump, actually on the front side of the front
axle beam, there is a small (~2" dia x 1" thk) metal cylinder that is
plumbed inline with the fuel pump output line. I don't mean the filter.
Has anyone had enough curiosity to open up one of these and describe what
they found?
I have seen this device described as a "Damper," but it is not on the
microfilm, and I don't know for sure what it is supposed to do. It seems
unlikely that it is actually a damper since the roller pump output should be
pretty smooth. Are there cars out there that are running fine without this
part?
2) I have an old Elfrink FI manual that has a picture of a FI type III
engine with a throttle valve switch that has 3 terminals! Has anyone seen
one of these? Where? What year?
The only ones I have seen were:
68-9, 2 terminals
70-1, 4 terminals
72-3, 5 terminals
I have always assumed this was something developmental, but....
