Some of you may remember that I put Redline synthetic manual transmission lubricant into my '71 squareback several months ago. I'm happy to report that I'm tickled pink (pun intended, for those who know!) with it to date--a couple of thousand miles later. Shifting is just as easy at zero F as it is at 70F! I don't have a precise quantitative measure of ease-of-shifting, but it sure as heck doesn't feel like it's full of molasses when the mercury drops. A *major* improvement in cold-weather shifting. Also, mysteriously, a terrible whining from my tranny that appeared late last summer is now gone. Coincidence? Probably. The new oil was in there quite some time before things quieted down, and I doubt that Redline repairs trannies. But I'm not complaining... Redline definitely gets Greg's "two thumbs up" rating for the medium-term. I will be curious to see how it performs over the long haul. Standard disclaimers, etc; I'm just a satisfied customer. It was the better part of $30 for the three quarts, but I'm glad I spent it. -Greg '71 squareback '63 Beetle
