I have found all of mine at swap meets so I don't know which ones might still be available. Of the three, I would suspect that the Haynes manual, titled VW 1500 & 1600 Type 3, would be most likely to be still available. My copy is copyright 1987. I would place it last in terms of which one I would rather use. But it seems to focus more on the later, fuel injected cars, which I have never owned. The other 2 were both published by Clymer. The later one I have has a 1974 publishing date and is titled Volkswagen Service Repair Handbook and has very good tables and drawings to go along with the instructions. Its great if you have to take something apart and has the best electrical section of the three. It was written by Eric Jorgenson. The earlier one is about 5" X 8" and is titled The 1600 Model Volkswagen Owners Handbook, written by David Vincent. This book is my favorite even though it lacks some of the drawings that make the other Clymer book good. It walks the reader through everyday problems in a way that I have seen in no other workshop manual. It was originally written prior to fuel injection, auto transaxle, & the like but updates have been added in for those things. It's strong suit is the dual carb era Type 3s. The section on tuning dual carbs is excellent. Larry Larry Edson sonofed@ix.netcom.com '66 Type 34 Karmann Ghia '65 Type 345 w/ electric sunroof
