My '63 Beetle came in this way; it's called "Touristenwagen" on the
paperwork. Turns out the family who arranged to take the trip had to cancel,
but they wanted the car anyway. The picked it up at the docks in San
Francisco in late '62. Apparently it got its first service at a VW dealer
in Germany (perhaps where it was to be picked up?) and I scored the dealer
badge that the car was delivered with.

Emily also has a dealer badge on her '64 Notch--a slicker looking
one than mine, I might add. Does anybody else have such a badge? Metal
or plastic, a couple of inches across, probably located on the side of
the car just forward of a front door.
