RE: Auto Tranny Drive Plates

I too suspect that the torque converter is out of whack, but have not been able to find someone to balance it at true engine
RPM's. I wasn't completely clear when I say it fatique cracks. If you have a plate you will notice that it has a bend just outside of
the hub that is rivetted to the center. All of mine have cracked on this bend, which is why I say it has fatique cracked from
flexing. Since this bend is located in quite a ways from the outside where the torque converter is attached only a slight
inbalance would cause flexing at this bend. I don't feel it is a HP torque problem. But the out of balance problem is NOT
noticable on the car. I had no warning before they let loose. Hell when the first one broke I thought I had lost a valve or
something because it makes a mettalic popping noise, similar to a cyclinder hitting a valve. Rather rhythmic (sp?) in a
occurance.
