O.k., I know this is going to sound completely crazy.... but here it goes...

Has anyone found, or ever heard of anyone finding, a small (1/8") plastic toy in the under the passenger seat of their VW?

Why am I asking such nonsense?... let me explain...

While reupholstering the front passenger seat of our '69 Westfalia (white) I pulled a small, pink, plastic horse out of the horse hair. While showing it to my wife, I laughed and thought of the poor kid that always wondered where his little pink friend went and the irony of this small figurine of a horse ending up amongst the actual horse hair seat mulch. (not a pretty picture, sorry!) I decided to keep it for luck, tossed it in the toolbox and forgot about it.

Then things got weird....

While stripping the interior of our new project "Rat" - a 1964 1500S Notch (white) that had been sitting in the hills above Berkeley for 15 years, I found another small, pink plastic figurine of a cowboy kinda guy, same scale as the horse... guess where? Under the passenger seat, etc; etc; etc;

This is far to strange to be coincidental.

I have heard rumors(?) of master keys being found in misc. places on the body of VWs. Perhaps some rogue german line-worker wanted to leave his signature on his work?

Thank you for your time... and please respond if you have any info on my debacle.

Steve Conroy

econroy@ix.netcom.com
