The Type III and IV systems are both D-Jetronic, except for the last year of
Type IV which went to L-Jetronic. D-Jetronic is almost entirely electronic
with only minimal mechanical action.

This is apples and oranges. The AT will need a vacuum modulator that is
right for the system you end up with. The distributor will need an advance
system appropriate to the system you end up with.
Replacing the feul pump is

Your carbed car will need no more gas than the same car fuel injected, only
the pressure is different, in fact the FI pump needs to deliver more,
because the pressure regulator needs to have excess to bleed back to the
tank so it can regulate.
DANGER: Wiring your pump to just run all the time when the key is on is an
invitation to turn a medium accident scene into an inferno. Don't be
tempted to do it.
