I'm at home today playing with the cars. The main items I needed to tackle (besides reinstalling a diesel engine in a Jetta) were to adjust the valves, points and wheel bearings and change the oil on my wife's '71 SQB. I found three valves out of adjustment, but was only able to fix one of them. The other two had very tight adjusting screws (even with the nuts backed way out.) I could not budge the adjusters so I just snugged the nut back one and put the covers back on. How can I get these adjusters loose again? I went ahead and adjusted the points and changed the oil. The car runs much stronger and I suspect it was the points since they were a little tight. Next on the list were the wheel bearings which went smoothly, and a little greasy too... Then, I wanted to take the car for a little spin, but the ignition key would not go in all the way. The center piece of the lock was depressed and would not pop out. This only seems to happen with the repro key we had made, but my wife was at work with the original key, so I'm stuck here... Would it do any harm to squirt a little lubricate down the lock? Thanks Dave
