Hi everyone, there's still a snag with our new services. The service provider is having difficulties setting up the digest. Don't worry though--it's all or nothing as far as I'm conerned: if they don't make good on the digest, we'll take them up on their 30-day money-back guarantee. (The main list itself is functional, but the digest isn't working.) Their support folks have been excessively cooperative, accessible and polite, but I've made clear to them that the digest is an absolute requirement for us. (At least the mailing list itself is billed by the amount of traffic--which means we haven't incurred any costs for these services.) It's frustrating to me at this point--they're making progress, but I had expected to be going full speed by now. For those who are interested, I'm setting up the site with liberal use of "server side includes" and perl cgi for flexibility and functionality. Things also look cool for automatically making "current" posts available via the web (with the MHonArc script and Unix's cron), and our "FAQ crew" has been combing through archives of old T3 posts to pull out the most noteworthy threads (Jim's name sure shows up a lot;). These discussions will be listed & searchable via the web, and available by email through the use of auto-responders. (This provider--alabanza.com--has a really cool setup for us to do all of these things... if they could just get the damn digest to work...!)
