Hey Jody :) I've been driving air cooled VWs for about 6 years now...haven't had one 'melt down' yet. (And how does an engine melt down from time to time?? Sounds like a kind of thing that would only happen once...) I've got a 72 Fastback that has taken me all over God's creation...and generally doing so above the posted speed limit. I recently sold a 66 Sunroof Variant that was one of those "bone-stock-never-been-apart-in-31-years" kind of thing...I took her to shows all last summer, every one of them at LEAST a two hour drive, and every one of them following a souped-up Ghia and a 56 beetle with a 2.0L (you get the picture)...and when I would get to the show, I'd check the motor to see what was going on...most of the time I could hold my hand on the motor...and my hand hasn't melted either...I think your mechanic should have a little more faith. mikey Spiff wrote: > > Recently, a mechanic told me this one, I was kinda surprised to know.
