Look at the upper edge of the aluminum dist casting. There is a
rather heavy scribed radial line at one point. This is where #1 cyl
should connect IF you have the dist installed right.

For FI #1 is at about 7 o'clock. I would expect earlier cars to be
the same, but I don't know for sure. I found one old manual that has
lots of pictures of a dual carb engine with the wires rotated about
90 deg CW. This may well have been an error or a kludge.
