Yes this system is a bit hokey; the bottle cap has a regulator that limits how low it will let the spare get, depending on cap color, but these regulators are all shot by now and the washer can drain your spare. The most common problem is a burst hose. This can be replaced with windshield washer hose from the hardware store. Don't omit the OE rubber sleeve that fits outside the hose where it pushes over the nipple on the wiper control. The wiper control has two nipples, the one close to the dash is the output, the far one is pressurized from the bottle.
