If you mean the ~2.5" tube, I have NEVER seen one of those go bad.
Radiator hose might be a perfectly good replacement, but it MIGHT
cause problems if it is not compatable with gas. Remember, they're
made to work with water.
I thought he was asking about the boot that goes around the filler
just below the cap; these disintegrate. The small overflow hoses
also need to be replaced regularly.
Last time I checked these were both still available from VW, probably
special order from your dealer.
