Craig: Jim did express reasons for not lowering vehicles. Others on the list also wrote about problems with wheels rubbing, rough rides, caster, etc. You can do what you wish with your car. However, please remember that VW doesn't make T3s anymore and the cherished "bone stock, Grandfather's car since he bought it straight from the factory in '64 that has been sitting in the dry barn since 1973, just want to get rid of it and the first $250 takes it" Notchback still cause all T3 enthusiasts' hearts to flutter. Jim is as passionate as anyone else on this list. His passion is seeing the VW engineering artwork remain as it was designed. Others are passionate in expressing their individuality by customizing their cars. I save quite a few emails from this list. The last one that I saved was Jim's monologue on lowering t3s. Regarding ending up being rust on someone's lawn, which car would you buy as a daily driver or to start your resto -- a bone stock, granny-driven T3 or a lowered, de-chromed, chopped top with a home-made sun roof and Weber Progressive sticking out through the hole cut through the engine cover? It is an easy choice to see which one would end up rusting on a lawn. Chill out and be glad that there still are so many of us who are passionate about a disappearing breed.
