Can it be done??

OK

So your out in, say, a state nobody ever uses like.. N Dakota and you burn
a hole in a piston couse your driving against a 50MPH headwind and the only gas at the last gas stop was 87 Octane.

     Now .. like every prepared VW owner you have a spare cylinder, piston
and rings with you.

                The QUESTION:

Is there enough room with the engine in the car to get the cylinder head off
after you dropped the exaust????

I know.. its easy to remove the engine but with the GB 1.5 qt sump on there
and only a bottle jack it not really practical on the side of the road.

Any one tried this??
