Okay, so this is that little hump that pokes forward into the engine
opening. I have to admit that I didn't realize that this was just
spotwelded in place. The donut and it's bracket then just bolt to
the underside of this part.

I think so. See my other post. (I'm assuming that by axial you mean
fore and aft.)
