Re: wide tires

Hi All

Yes, I am running 205/50/15 tires on the rear on 5.5 Empi 8 spoke
copies, and they do fit under the rear wings. The car is lowered but by
how much is debateable, as I have lowered it, the springs are sagging
and I had also fitted coil over shocks, (with soft springs).

I also agree that the tyre is really too wide for the rim, and when
running at 13 - 15 psi for drag racing, it is possible for the tyre to
rotate on the rim( not a good idea).

The recommended fit is that the tead width is slightly less than the
wheel width. This helps with stability.
All good tyre manufacturers have a specified wheel size, and also an
acceptable range for each tyre size, and for a 5.5 rim, Yokohama specify
195/60/15 & 205/60/15 for 5.5 rims, but also say 195/50/15 & 205/50/15
can be used on 5.5 rims. This is for there A008-R tyre.

Up front I am using 185/55/15 on the same rims. These fit OK on a
lowered car, but I have a fibreglass front end so that helps as there
are no inner wings for the tyres to foul on.
