Greetings: A Notchback Report from Utah: I don't have any great news for you on where to find the wonderful Notch of your dreams in my neck of the woods, Utah, but I do have a report as such. I know of only 3 Notches in northern Utah. (I would suppose there are more.) Two are mid-sixties custom jobs and the other is a mid-sixties stock Notch that is quite beautiful. I believe it's a cream color and completely as it came from Wolfsburg. I saw it at the BYU campus in Provo, Utah. I left a note to give me a call if he wanted to sell it and never heard from the guy. Nice. And solid too. Wow. I about wet myself when I saw it. There are a few others that a guy has told me about who deals in a lot of 50's vintage and more rare VW stuff. There's also Tom-Tom's VW Museum in Moab, Utah. This guy's pretty legendary in Volkswagens. He has a whole mess of cars at his garage and decided to call his yard a "Museum" when a local town councilman threatened to cause some trouble with all the stuff he has laying around. Anyway, he has two Notches: a '63 and a '67 I believe. I didn't get to actually look at them up close but supposedly they're pretty solid. But WARNING: This guy has some pretty major pipe dreams about the value of his cars. For example, he priced a late model Beetle for me that was sitting out by the road at his shop. It was a solid car body wise, but needed a full and total restoration: headliner, rubber, motor, everything mechanical, etc. He only wanted a mere $2,500. He reads Hemmings and Hot VW's all the time and he sees all these prices of fully restored cars, and the prices on his unrestored cars seem to go up and up. Anyway, I think I could find about ten Notches for what he'd probably want for one of his. Just my two cents. Take Care All: Jon. '71 Square '72 Fast (For Sale. Nice!)
