This was what the consensus was on my mysterious water leaks too.
I checked and checked it.

Nobody thought of what the problem really was...

When I went to replace the windshield, I discovered that 
the bottom part of the sill was completely rusted away in
the area between the fresh air vents.

When it rained heavily, water was coming in there.
Because of where the drops were, I, the previous owner,
and the list members, all guessed it was leaky fresh air 
vents.

There is *no* other rust on this car :-(  Well, a little
under the battery... )  and so we did not guess rust holes
as a probable cause of anything. Live and learn, eh?

I have not dared to solicit estimates on fixing this
damage.  I don't even know what kind of body shop would
take on that kind of work.
