I just finished reupholstering the middle seat from my '67 Deluxe
Microbus...a long hand-sewn upholstery project. I have had
success using a thin layer of polyester fill (like for quilts)
for covering/slipping. It adds just a touch of softness to areas
where vinyl goes right over metal or fiberboard and helps deaden
sound as well.
