Limited slip differential (LSD)

I have no need to buy a T181 tranny since my T3 is a custom built unit,
so... Can I just pop in a T181 LSD into my T3? The nose cone is for
shifting, not controlling differential slip, so I don't see how it concerns
me (unless I install a complete T181 tranny, of course). Also, what is the
mechanism that the T181 LSD uses to control slip (there are two ways that
I've heard of, maybe more?) and can they still be purchased?

The Thing did have the OPTION for a limited slip diff.

But not ALL of them had it. If you find one, make sure it's from a
NON-reduction-boxed Thing and you can use it... WITH the nose cone.

A reduction-boxed Thing has the same reduction boxes as a bus, so to use
it there will have to be the same gear switching as you do to use a bus
tranny in a bus with the reduction boxes removed.

confused yet?
