Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time to browse, was only able to paruse the parking lot (my favorite area, i'm more interested in daily drivers than show cars) and go through the show room (indoors of course, it's impossible to make outdoor plans in advance here in WA due to all the liquid sun we get). As my '71 Sqbk is _still_ in the shop for a partial resto (ugh, why does time have to move so slowly at times?) I shimmied and lurched on down there in the '73 Westy and due to some sort of osmosis process I was in a type II mood all day ;) The weather was very funky.... raining slugs and seagulls one minute and blinding sunshine the next, but a good turnout anyway. I always love getting within about 5 miles of the meets and you start seeing vw's dispersed amongst all those other ugly vehicles. By the time you pull into the parking lot (vw mecca) you're having to wipe drool off the steering wheel. There was about 20-25 Type III's in the lot when I arrived, mainly pre-70 squares but a couple notches, ghias, and fastbacks as well. Lot's of vehicles for sale as well, if i'd had time I would have jotted down some info, but alas... maybe next year. The showroom had maybe 7 III's, all very nice. One had four 8" woofers mounted in a plexiglass plate on the floor directly in front of the driver and passenger seats!? Didn't seem to practical to me as they were not protected, but hey, to each their own. The one vehicle that really caught my eye was a mid to late 60's square (pardon the general nature but i'm a bonehead when it comes to details!) that was restored by a 16 year old kid. He had a photo album showing the whole process, very interesting to look through. Anyone else that went please elaborate as I didn't get to see it all either.
