RE: Old enough to smoke?

This happen once to my '71 Fastback. Same symptoms you describe, although I noticed the smell. NOT electrical and the
smoke was definitely coming out of the heater/defrost vent. It had a faint burned oil smell. I didn't know at the time but my
exhaust clamps that connect the muffler pipes to heat exchagers had failed. It only happen once and this car is a daily driver
that was driven the day before and after without it happening again. The smoke stopped emmitting after about 15 seconds. I
think/guess that some oil dipped on the exhaust pipe near the heat exchanger/muffler interface and the bad clamps force this
smoke into the cabin heat side of the exchangers. I know this is alot of ifs, but hope it helps...
