From the FWIW deptartment.

For anyone who saw my tach fab, once again I'm sorry for the picture
quality, it was taken w/ a Polaroid camera on a cloudy day, and really
came out more green than anything else. For Wayne Collins, the dash
instruments came with the car, they are a kind of dark charcoal grey on
the faces, the speedo is in KPH's, might be a Euro-spec thing, I don't
know. But, they are not black. The tach, which I don't know the model
# for but has UPM/x 100 on its face, is black but the gauges are all so
close in color that they really all look the same. At any rate, no pics
on the car, it's really not in a-one shape. It's a daily driver, has a
primered front end, a door ding, with a matching ding on the fender. I
'm still looking for a good body shop in the area to do the work. On
the other hand, two items of note. There is a VW only show (Show and
Shine XIV) at the Pompano Square Mall (Copans Road and Federal Highway)
in Pompano Beach Florida on 4/20/97 (Sunday) lots of classes, hopefully
lots of Type III's. I'm going with the wife and kids, might take the
Notch, depends on the weather, etc. 2. There is a VW's only shop and
parts yard that might have some needed parts for Type III's. It's
called First National Garage, 5701 Orange Drive, Davie FL, (954)
584-1556. Owned by Marshall and Patty Painter, I've gotten many parts
from them in the past, they have a yard with at least 150+ VW's in it,
although Patty told me they have had to downsize a few months ago. She
has said she will try to fill any request for used parts that come in,
or I'm sure she would know where you might find them. They are aware
that I'm giving their # out, if you call tell them where you heard of
them, it might be worth a call.
