Advise on carbs for a Type IV

I am building a Type IV 1.7l for my fastback and I have stock 32mm Solex
carbs for it,  I would like to gain a little more power if possible.  What
would you recomend for reliability for a daily driver but still has plenty
of power?  The motor is pretty much stock with a 009 and empi exhaust.  I
am thinking that a single carb may be easier to keep tuned?  Any advice? 
Does anybody have anything used for sale?  I am finding it is hard to find
stock on Webers these days.
