I don't recall any of the specific errors that I came across.  They are most 
likely to be in things where the type 3 engine differs from the type 1, like 
the correct position of the distributor drive gear.  Instead of worrying 
about where the problems arise, I suggest you just get a more reliable book. 
 Here are three that I recommend.

(excellent book, complete and well written)

(a fun book that is entertaining and enjoyable)

How to Hotrod Volkswagen Engines
by Bill Fisher
published by H. P. Books, Tucson, AZ, 1970
(excellent book, well written and researched)
