Need all the heat I >can get! These two (almost unknown) thermostats are very good things to leave in place. They do not reduce the total amount of heat delivered to the cabin, they just reduce the temperature by increasing the total volume of air delivered. The problems that most of us have these days are that the hot air leaks out before we can enjoy it. I realize it may be hard to believe, but these cars put out a LOT of heat when they were new. Without these "tempering" valves the temperature was just too high. I have seen melted plastic as a result of leaving them off. Of course you must have the 1" dia flex hoses installed for this system to work correctly, otherwise your heat will just spill out the top of the junction box. This is just another misunderstood aspect of Type III engineering.
