About the anti-fog product and summer: Just in case, you apply the
anti-fog then buff the haze off once it dries, just like the Rain-X. Now,
as for the hazy stuff you ONLY see in the summer -- it is vapor from the
dash that is deposited on the windshield. Although more noticeable on
vehicles with a large, vinyl dash area (this includes 914's, too :) this
sounds like what is happening to you. As the summer's heat and increased
ultraviolet radiation bathes the synthetic dash covering the dash gives off
vapors. These vapors stick to the first thing they touch -- your
windshield. Then any dust/pollutants in the air sticks to the vaporous
haze that is stuck to your windshield and you're stuck behind the wheel
unable to see clearly :)
Or else you allow smoking in your car :(
To help control this use a product for the vinyl that has UV inhibitors. These
inhibitors are like a sunscreen for your vinyl and rubber pieces to help them
last longer, much like the sunscreen you put on your body to protect it from
getting burned in the summer.
I am very familiar with the inside/outside windshield scraping and Doug is
correct, the stuff works great.

...the floor vents up front. I've also found that a product called
Anti-fog from Rain-X helps a lot, but when summer came the stuff seemed to
dry to this hazy stuff that I had to clean off the inner surface of my
windshield every three weeks or so. All in all, it was worth it to have it
on all winter (no scraping of the outside *and* inside of the windshield in
the morning)!
Just my 2 cents,
Doug H.
