Aaron,

I found an NOS set of these for a Type 34. They fit on the fresh air
vent for the front (just in front of the front windshield. I had the
same concern when I wanted to put them on the car.

At one of the VW swap meets in California I started talking to Bob
Koch. He's the guy that has ads in the VW magazines with restoring
steering wheels and other interior trim. I talked to him about these
types of trim pieces.

He said he knows the guy (maybe) that bought the old tooling for
producing these pieces. He even mentioned that they start reproducing
the pieces for the Type I's. Would there, can there, be a chance that a
Type I piece can be shorted to fit your missing piece?
