I had taken out my tank and had neglected to do a proper final tightening of the 4 screws that hold the edges of the tank in place. The ground actually goes out along the surface of the tank and you need good contact with the car chassis. Try getting a wire with alligator clips at each end and make a connection from one of the bolts on the sender with one of the grounding screws inside the front trunk area and try driving it around and see if it goes away. Someone else on the list may have a better technique to try. Hope this helps, Doug H.
