Howdy Volks, it's great to see all the recent participation; please let me suggest some guidelines to keep things going smoothly. 1. When relevant, direct replies just to the original sender if possible. Not to discourage active participation in the group... just think carefully whether it's actually relevant to the group as a whole. 2. Keep the content focused on T3. 3. Keep quoting of previous messages to a minimum; don't tack on the entire original message at the end of your post, generally speaking. 4. Make sure your auto-reply goes to "type-3@umich.edu" (the whole group), not "type-3-errors@umich.edu" (my personal mailbox alone--misses the list). The motivations for these suggestions include keeping the signal/noise high and the volume low, particularly for those who want to participate but can't handle many incoming messages, and to reduce spamming of my "type-3-errors" account (actually *this* one); see, right now one sub'er has a full mbox (I get two bounces from this error), and two others have down machines. I get like 4 times the volume when this happens, and it makes me grumpy. The flip side of this... if you think you've gotten unsub'ed, it may be because mail isn't reaching you & I've taken you off. Finger type-3@umich.edu to check your status, especially if your box has been full or if your machine has been down for a while. Thanks! Keep up the great posts! -Greg '71 squareback '63 Beetle
