Any decent voltmeter will have such a high resistance that the current it draws will be insignificant, much less than the clock (averaged over time), for example. > On the matter of a high resistance in the ignition circuit, my car is an > auto so the ignition goes through a switch on the gear selector so you can only > start it in N or P. The voltage drop I was concerned about was all the OTHER current that passes thru the ignition switch. That's the current that serves everything other than the starter solenoid. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
